When our dog was sick, they were incredible at helping us and keeping us calm. Ben in particular spent the time to explain the situation to us in detail and put our minds at ease. Highly recommend for their attentive care and service!

My review comes incredibly late as my experience happened in February of this year. My dog started seizing at around 2am, and after calling around to many vets, i was told to call Ambivet as they have an emergency vet on call. When i called i was told my dog could be taken care of for around £200, then i was told £800 and then it went up again to over a thousand. I was told this would have to be paid ASAP and it could not be paid for using a payment plan. Then when i told them i did not have this money on hand and that i needed help immediately as the seizing had not calmed down even after 5mg of diazepam that we had been prescribed just in case of a prolonged seizure, they passed me onto another number, who then passed me back to Ambivet and it went back and fourth like that until he'd been seizing for over an hour and i snapped at the staff (i apologised after). Then eventually i was passed onto PDSA nottingham who managed to sort out a veterinary practice for me to take my beloved dog to, and was given an address in PDSA Derby, which i apparently should have been given from the get-go from Ambivet the moment they knew i could not feasibly pay before treatment. Unfortunately the back and forth between Ambivet and the other number had taken too long and had resulted in irreversible damage to my dog and he could not stop seizing even with medication because of the damage to his brain and he passed away at 10:30am that same day after spending the entire time at PDSA Derby under their care. Even 7 months on I am heartbroken and struggling to cope with this loss. Buddy was my entire world and i am disgusted and still incredibly mad at the care of the out of hours team here. Refusing care because someone cannot afford inflated prices is cruel. I was okay paying for £200 but when it kept going up and up until it was over £1000 it felt like a horrific joke. Ambivet is not in the pet care business, they are in the money business. God bless PDSA Derby for doing their best.

I won’t take my cats anywhere else! Jess, Josh and Emily are absolute superstars! We’ve just moved house and not wanting to stress our senior cat boys out with travelling, we signed up with a new vet based on their good reviews. I was gutted to leave Ambivet Heanor, as they have been so great with Jake and Jasper! 🐾💙🐾 We had a bad experience with the new vet where the receptionist was just not listening to us. We then signed up with a second local vet, but they couldn’t fit Jake in as quickly as we’d have liked. As Jake has been vomiting on and off for a week, I decided to drive him back to Heanor today and it was the best decision I could have made. They were patient, thorough, and they know his long history with kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, recurring UTI’s and high blood pressure. We don’t know the cause of his vomiting yet, but I have every faith that they will get to the bottom of it and give Jake the care he needs. Here are the boys looking thankful and relieved after I told them we’re staying with Ambivet. A huge thanks to Jess, Josh, Emily and all of the amazing reception staff at Ambivet. Dealing with senior, poorly pets is stressful, especially when you’re dealing with the stress of moving home. However, I’m confident they will do everything they can for Jake…and my stress levels!

Yeah lovely care. But when the proverbial deposits hit the fan. After 20 years of being a customer. N there's no help to get done what needs doing. Little ones insured n in there healthy pet club. Which just go up n up. N they cant even offer a payment plan. Whats the point. Looking for a new vet Hopefully they'll offer me treatment to.. .lol God knows I need it. It wasn't always like this? Is the cost of living crises just making greed ok? Over our pets health.? We know it's like that for us n the nhs with dodgy ppe exploitation But our little person deserve better. They're far better for you than a human.

Thank you for your amazing care of Effy at a very worrying time for us. I really appreciated the prompt appointments, the care shown by all the staff, the detailed explanation of issues and treatments… and of course being able to collect her and bring her home after you had made her better!
