We lost a cat much loved cat to kidney failure last December, which left one who withdrew with her loss of her life long companion, so we adopted two more from two other rescue centres in January, we had at the time declined to rescue another from Celia Hammond due to space to integrate them, after a few months, and having 3 happy cats in the house we decided we had room in our lives to give one more rescue a good home, Having been well aware of the work Celia Hammond has done over her years, we had another look on their website, I was taken back by a photo of a black and white cat Beaumont at Canning town, his facial markings are exactly the same as my first Cat, his age and description matched perfectly with our other cats needs, we had to apply to adopt him, it didn't take long for them to call back and arrange for someone from Lewisham branch to do a home visit, a vital part of the adoption process to make sure homes are safe and suitable, a lovely lady came round, had a nice chat, checked all she needed to, even got to fuss over our 3 cats we already had, happy with everything she saw, she called Celia while she was with us to make sure Beaumont would be able to come home with us, arrangements were made for us to meet Beaumont that Saturday and we took him home that day, the staff at Canning town were all so friendly and welcoming, they do such an amazing job, to care for so many, the task of finding them homes must be overwhelming at times for them, the process of adoption is simple and clearly explained, each cat is microchipped, neutered, vaccinated and health checked by their vets, and they provide 1 month free Pet plan insurance. The adoption cost is kept low for obvious reasons, so I was happy to pay more than they were asking, as I think we all should give them as much as we can afford. While we were waiting for Beaumont to be brought out to us to take him home, Celia came out to thank us for adopting him, this took me by surprise, I thanked her back because if it wasn't for people like her and the rescue centre that save these cats to find them safe homes to live out the rest of their lives, where would they have ended up. Beaumont is doing well, our 3 other cats are slowly getting used to him being around, so he can now have the run of the house with them, he's not been outside yet as he's only been with us a few weeks, but not long now. So thank you to everyone that does their bit at Celia Hammond, thank you Celia, and everyone, like us, that supports the work they do and gives forever homes to their cats.

Colette and the team here are all incredibly dedicated to their roles in helping the cats under their care. Adopting from this shelter has been a wonderful experience and I am so happy with my beautiful little Rosalita here! (pictured :D) The process was thorough and it is clear that the welfare of the cats is the top priority of the staff, with the catproofing we have done being thoroughly checked. While some might view this as inconvenience, personally it put my mind at ease to know that they care so much about the safety of the cats they adopt out. They make every effort to ensure that the cat/s you go home with are suited to and will be able to thrive in your home environment. They do incredibly important work at this no-kill shelter and if you are thinking of getting a cat I would urge you to adopt one in need from these lovely people! I am incredibly glad that I did! All these cats deserve fulfilling lives and its good to see that there are people so dedicated to providing that for them. Thank you again to Colette and the rest of the team for introducing me to this beautiful little cat :D

What an amazing place? I took my 7 month old kitten to get spayed. I didn't have very much money but I'm a responsible pet lover and I wanted my baby to be well taken care of. The staff, the volunteers at Celia Hammond took great care of her and gave me a few suggestions for her recovery. She is home now and full of life.
