Prior to becoming a first time pet owner, popped in to the Ickenham branch for some advice on practical things such as insurance, costs etc .. About 10 days later, Luna (ShihTzu) joined the family. Registered at Goddard Vets and got a free health check, which went well and the vet provided some useful info as its a big learning curve for us. Had a lovely chat with Alison prior to leaving and she also gave some great advice ! Thanks very much

Would be 5 star based on vetinary care. The staff are compassionate and kind and caring. But why are vets so expensive? We spent a fortune on our dog who sadly didn’t make it as he had cancer. Also would be useful if bills were itemised and split between medication and cost of consultation. Vets are professionals and their time should be expensive but vets seem dearer than private dentists

I recently visited Goddard’s in Ickenham for a routine check-up for my 14-year-old dog. While the practice is clean and the staff are friendly, I left feeling disappointed by the experience. The check-up was meant to be free, but I was unexpectedly charged £49.50 without any clear explanation of what exactly the fee was for. During the exam, the vet checked my dog’s teeth and immediately pushed for a dental cleaning and possible extractions. While I understand this might be necessary, the way it was handled felt more like a sales pitch than genuine care. Additionally, the vet found a potential heart murmur and recommended expensive tests, including x-rays and scans, with a quoted price of over £1,100. I was surprised by how quickly they wanted to push forward with these procedures without suggesting any alternatives or second opinions. When I expressed concern about the cost, I was referred to charities rather than being offered more affordable options. It feels like vets these days are more focused on making money than caring for pets. Every visit seems to come with new tests, products, and treatments being pushed, but without much focus on discussing practical, day-to-day things I could do to improve my dog’s health, like dietary advice. I understand vets need to recommend treatment when necessary, but I believe it should be done with more transparency and less pressure on pet owners.

I took both kittens to the vets Marley had a kitten check and worming treatment which he decided we could all share with him. Hugo had his 2 Nd injection today. The vet was very understanding when Marley attacked her and cut her finger. The staff are very helpful and friendly.

Bayo, Dawn and Alison were super helpful. Teddy was well looked after and the whole experience was a pleasure.
