This veterinary surgery is the poorest that we have come across. Our Bichon needed a stamp in her European Passport, she's originally from Portugal, & the locum vet said that was not allowed. Wrong, if the pet is from the EU they can maintain their EU pet passport. After much haggling, she finally agreed to the use of the passport. The vet then dropped our little dog from the height of the examination table & proceeded to scowl at me. I was not holding our dog at the time, she was. She wasn't concerned about any injury that she may have caused, just in protecting herself! Fast forward six months & we went back for a routine vaccination. Another vet listened with her stethoscope to our dog's heart & declared that she had a heart murmer & recommended that we take her to the specialist in the area: Stamford Veterinary Centre. Surprise surprise, they found nothing of the sort. Neither did her next vet in England, nor her veterinary surgery in Portugal. Warning ⚠️ This vet is not your local independent practice. It is owned by the American company, Linnaeus Veterinary & they are part of the Mars Incorportated conglomerate! The same people who are buying up far too many vets in the UK! This place is profit above care. ⚠️

I've been using Rutland Vets for years now and have always reccomended them. I had to book in my guinea pig (aged 7) for euthanasia after 24 hours of hoping she would pass peacefully with her cage mate. When it became clear that this was more then old age I called up and through tears asked for an appointment to put her down due to believing she was on her way out. The receptionist originally only had a booking for the end of the day but when I described the symptoms she put me on hold to go ask if the vets had any earlier bookings confirming the worst to me. My regular vet saw us within about fifteen minutes of my phone call and confirmed my suspicions that my guinea pig was not going to bounce back but could have multiple days in pain before going if I hadn't called up. I will not say the process wasn't upsetting but my vet did all she could to comfort me and handled my little one with such care you'd think that she was holding her own pet. They helped my old angry lady who was still biting me with the last of her strength have a pain-free moment held against my chest were she could hear my heart like id do when she was a baby before she finally reunited with her herdmates. I reccomend them for your little furry friends and your dogs as I've trusted them with my dog for years now. They'll do their best to help your creatures recover like they did when my dog had to be hospitalised and the nurses sent us photos of her and put up with us pestering them for updates and if not they'll help you say goodbye and treat your babies with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Absolutely amazing vets! Rachel the vet, the and all the vet’s nurses, I truly can’t thank you all enough for how you have helped my Lunar after she snapped her cruciate ligament and had to have surgery. You are all about the animals, not the money like a lot of the vets I have been to before. Your reception staff are always super friendly, welcoming and helpful too. I would give more stars if I could.

Lovely local independent vet branch. Nurse and vet staff are genuinely friendly and making the most of the smaller format, reception staff efficient. Puppy club was really helpful and first medications all on track. Very happy with everything so far. Thank you!
