Forrest House Veterinary Group is described in clinic data as a veterinary nurse training facility and as offering emergency veterinary services. In the latest reviews, owners most often describe fast access to appointments (including being seen within an hour for an urgent issue, and within 20 minutes when arranging euthanasia), clear explanations during consultations, and support during end-of-life visits (being given time to say goodbye without feeling rushed). A smaller set of reviews raises serious concerns about clinical decision-making and costs, including one owner alleging pressure to book a high-cost heart scan before an examination and another alleging a procedure “gone wrong,” followed by disputed billing handled via a solicitor.

We had the sad situation of having to have our 15 year old Jack Russell put to sleep. From the very start when we went to the vets to ask about the procedure and what happens after the receptionists couldn’t be more helpful. When the actual time came we rang the vets ( obviously very upset) and they had us in within 20 minutes . There was no rush and we could stay after for as long as we wanted to say our goodbyes. The vet was gentle, kind and compassionate and we couldn’t have asked for more . We can’t praise them enough . Thank you Forrest House Vets for everything you did .

I phoned this vet while on holiday in the area and was given an appointment within the hour. They were so professional and really took the time to listen to me — I never felt like I was wasting their time. The vet carried out a full examination of my cavapoo, explained what he thought the problem was, and clearly went through the next steps, why they were needed, and the risks. He also showed me a simple way to get my cavapoo to take his tablet, which has always been a struggle. It worked straight away at the practice, and I’ve been using the same technique at home for the next tablets — it’s working perfectly. Brilliant service, very caring, and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Lost our cat due to procedure gone wrong. Happily sent a card to us for the loss but never a bill on how much we owe. 9 months later a letter from their solicitor that we still owe them money including fees. Hard to tell how much we owe as we were never given an invoice but they decide to go straight to the solicitor to claim their money. Also claim they have been in contact when they haven't. Avoid this place and take your pet further rather than use these .

We lost our beloved girl Manci yesterday and Josh and the team were fantastic and so caring. Thanks for making a hard day that little bit easier.

BE AWARE…. I took my dog to be checked out as an emergency to Forrest vets in Bedale, North Yorkshire, she was quite poorly aged 12, not eating but drinking a lot and struggling to stand up, This was my 1st time using this vet and I had already got the medical history from my own vets who’s 75 miles away. I mentioned a very recent diagnosis of a stage 3 heart murmur to him at Forrest vets and before he even laid one finger on her he said she needs a heart scan costing £700 to 1k and tried to sell me a monthly plan emphasised that I would get it cheaper if I had a plan !!!!! and he was currently training in this field and highly recommended it and he said she was overweight and I needed to walk her more !!!! I was told to come back the following day for a woman to do the heart scans, for some reason my gut instinct told me something was not right ! I have had dogs in the past with heart conditions and I have kept them alive for 5 yrs plus but Rosie’s was a very recent low grade and given her age it was well managed and monitored, I went to another vet the day after for a 2nd opinion, this vet spent 10mins checking her over and did a blood test only to tell me she was in kidney and liver failure caused from the 4 yrs of steroids due to her auto immune disease and nothing they could do and her heart was not the major concern, the best thing was to let her sleep peacefully! …the vet at forrest vets in BEDALE never mentioned a blood test, and refused to give her any pain relief for the evening between the next appointment all he was concerned with was getting 2 heart scans done. I made a complaint stressing my concerns over the money aspect and the way it was sold to me and the lack of care for Rosie and her welfare, I spoke to 2 other vet practitioners including my own all said a blood test is the 1st rule to see what’s happening with kidneys and liver to ensure they can with stand any medication, the scan was a next level after bloods and it would have made no difference in Rosie’s case. So far from the stage 2 of my complaint they have still defended the actions of the vet and practice, so now I’m at stage 3 complaint process, I never want anyone’s pet to suffer the 15 hours like mine did for only the inevitable to happen !

Greedy money grabbers! My dog suffers ear yeast infections during the warmer months. It's something that is common for him. I took him to this vets for this exact issue last year where I paid a consultation fee, a microbial sample and test and then the ear ointment on top. Almost £200!!! As its spring it's started again. Exact same issue, looks the same and smells the same. Unfortunately we ran out of the ointment at the end of summer, so I looked online and can get the same ointment at a QUARTER of the price this vets charge for it, however you need to have a vets prescription. So I called the vets and explained that my dog is having the same issue as last time and asked for a prescription so that I can get the ointment online. They're happy to give me a prescription as long as I pay nearly £60 again for the 15 minute consultation (we're never in there more than 5 minutes) + the sample and tests (which if I remember correctly actually cost a lot more than the consultation fee!) only to be told he needs the same ointment again, which we already know... Another lump sum on top. All in it's nearly £200 for an ointment I can get online for less than £15!!! Obviously I protested this but I was told... oh but it might not be the same issue and you're paying £58 for 15 minutes of a professionals time. I know my dog thank you. I'm the one who regularly cleans his ears and I don't need a greedy vet to tell me what I already know. Absolute extortion! They are preying on the local folk whom can't travel to a cheaper vet, and in this current financial climate I find it unforgivable! Needless to say I will be taking my business elsewhere. Vets for pets only charge £40 for a 20 minute consultation and their prescriptions are much cheaper! so that's where we'll be going in future. Its time we boycotted these greedy companies... Northallerton is only 10 minutes away!

I have visited the Bedale surgery 3 times now in the past 4-5 weeks having only recently moved into the area. It is without doubt the best experience I have ever had at a veterinary surgery. I found everyone be so calm, friendly & helpful. My dog gets incredibly anxious but the staff have gone above & beyond to make both her & my experience as easy as possible. Thanks to everyone but a special thanks to Amy who is a complete superstar
