Vets in Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Northumberland
Galedin Veterinary is an independent practice (Galedin Ltd) that, according to its website, has been providing veterinary care for over 200 years and covers household pets as well as horses and livestock. Recent reviews mostly focus on small-animal care: routine “MOT” check-ups, kitten and dog vaccinations (including nasal kennel cough), and end-of-life support. Several owners describe being talked through options during euthanasia, including what sedation would involve and choices around aftercare “with no pressure”; however, one reviewer reports a conflicting experience alleging ashes were withheld until an insurance claim was settled, described as practice policy. A separate waiting area for cats is mentioned, though one owner says it wasn’t pointed out to them on arrival.

I can’t recommend the vets and other staff at Galedin in Galashiels highly enough.

Just home after taking our cat Micha to get put to sleep 😢😢 Alan? (sorry I was a blubbering mess) The vet was absolutely brilliant with her and talked us through various options with no pressure regarding her remains. He also explained what the procedure was and how he would sedate and make her comfortable before putting her to sleep. Everything he and the nurses did was exceptionally caring when they were with her. Top class human beings thank you very much. We've had many pets and sadly had to say goodbye to them over the years. But none of them were treated with the care dignity and compassion show to Micha and us today. 💔💔 Still a blubbering mess. 😢😭😭

Both dogs had their vaccines including Nasal kennel cough. Young female vet was, as usual, wonderful with them. Given how nervous my rescue dog is she was calm and took her examination and injection etc with no problem. A great vet.

Id have given 0 stars. Finally, after 5 long weeks since we lost our wee Cooper we eventually got his ashes home where he belongs. We wanted to share this about our experience with Galedin E-vets in galashiels. Firstly the insurance company lost our claim in their system due to a change in the underwritters, this was only resolved after contacting them and asking why this was taking so long, however has since been dealt with and they could not apologise enough. . They way this whole situation has been dealt with by Galedin has been utterly disappointing, insensitive and with no compassion whatsoever, for example on the day we lost Cooper being asked almost instantly do you want to pay the excess now? A complaint was made to the manager and another member of staff replied with an email which concluded with I dont mean to be insesnsitive, but I do need to make you aware that should your insurers for any reason decline the claim the balance will then become due from yourself, bearing in mind the cremation had already been paid for & we had the option to take Cooper to bury originally (but opted for cremation). To make the situation even worse, Galedin E-vets then held us to ransom and refused to release Coopers ashes until insurance was settled, which is apparently policy which we all think is disgusting withholding our right to have our Cooper's ashes back home at such a distressing time. The manager then replied to acknowledge the complaint. We just want to make everyone aware of this policy they have as as we have found this very upsetting at the wost possible time, it has been the hardest time with our sudden loss of Cooper and this situation has now drawn on for over 5 weeks. The vets in hawick have been so different in their approach and have been very supportive and understanding - the way a vets should be. Finally, we have coopers ashes home. X

Seen promptly but I wish the receptionist had told us there was a separate waiting area for cats as we did not realise until we left .Our cat did not appreciate seeing dogs!

I’ve been using Galedin vets for many years and I’m always happy with the service they provide. I trust their judgement and trusting them with my pets is the highest possible compliment I can give them. I recently took my newest addition, a 10 week old kitten for her first vaccines and it was a great experience.

Been attending here for a few years and dealt with lots of different vets. They are all lovely to deal with and are really kind to my two cats being very patient when they are not always very obliging and show their disdain. The little treats do help though.
