Alnorthumbria Vets is a long-established mixed animal practice (established 1897) treating small animals, equine and farm animals, with the website also mentioning treatment of some wild animals. The practice states it provides a 24-hour emergency care service staffed by their usual team of vets.
From the latest reviews, owners most often describe calm handling and clear explanations (including injections and nasally administered medicine done “without fuss”), and there are specific mentions of post-op care for a dog and support on a “very sad day” (end-of-life care). A smaller number of reviews raise concerns about cost (e.g., £96 for an exam plus an injection for sickness; £34 for seven anti-inflammatory tablets) and, in one case, unfriendly service when collecting a prescription.

Took my sick dog to see the vet. Had an examination and an injection for sickness. That’s it which cost £96! As my dog was still showing symptoms took her to The Harrogate Vet who saw us within two hours, gave a thorough examination and treated my dog with anti sickness injection and probiotics which came to £36! So why the HUGE difference in price? Definitely no need to charge such exorbitant fees for a ten minute consultation. I’ll def not be returning to Alnorthumbria Veterinary Group in a rush any time soon!

Got 7 anti inflammatory tablets for my dog last week, cost £34, nearly fell over but bought them anyway. Later found them on line, 30 tablets for £32 so arranged with the vet (on the phone) to pick up a prescription. Called in today to pick up the prescription, not ready, unwelcoming vet (different vet), not even a hello or a smile. Poor customer service.

Excellent veterinary staff. Very friendly, approachable also helpful and patient answering lots of queries! Definitely recommend. Wooler practice is easy to locate, with ample parking. Very clean and sterile inside whilst still being welcoming.

Thank you Beth and all at Alnorthumbria Wooler for looking after 'Dave' with his recent operation. First class care, service and 'bedside manner' I craved for from other local Vets. Wouldn't trust my pooch with anyone else. He even left with a new 'squeak!'.

First visit. Reception quick and friendly. Appointment on time. Vet very engaging, full of good advice and helpful, great 'bedside manner' with dog. Injections and nasally administered medicine done completely without fuss without the dog even noticing. Very well impressed.

Friendly staff, knowledgeable vets, good advice and tips for keeping your pet well. Being a rural practice they have extensive experience in equine and farm animal care. The Wooler practice is in a good location just off the A697, the scenic route between Morpeth and Edinburgh.
