#4 Vet in Thirsk, North Yorkshire
North Paws Rehabilitation Referrals is a veterinary rehabilitation facility focused on pain management and rehab for dogs, with treatments including hydrotherapy and laser therapy. Based on the website, it’s set up as a dedicated rehab centre (rather than a general vet practice), with a swimming pool, an underwater treadmill, and Class 4 K-Laser equipment; it also states ACPAT-registered physiotherapy. In reviews, owners repeatedly describe tailored treatment plans for mobility and post-surgery recovery—examples include prehab before a TPLO and rehab afterwards, plus support following cruciate surgery and an Achilles tendon repair. Several reviewers mention staff helping dogs build confidence with water over time (from being “afraid of the water” to “can’t wait to go for his swims”) and giving practical home/routine changes alongside in-clinic sessions.
5 stars from 20 reviews. - Owners describe mobility improvements in older dogs (arthritis/joint issues), often after a combined plan of hydrotherapy + laser; several mention a noticeable change from “plodding/shuffling” to trotting and enjoying walks again.

Very specific care of my dogs condition throughout. They were all also very patient with him as he began very afraid of the water and not can’t wait to go for his swims. He’s made such an improvement since being with them. Can’t thank them enough, particularly Rhiannon and Claire.

The team at North Paws Rehab are amazing. They have worked wonders on our old lab through a combination of laser treatment and hydrotherapy. They know their stuff, and clearly love the dogs too! Thanks!

North Paws have revitalised my dog. I originally contacted them for Hydrotherapy but the laser therapy has been a game changer. He has gone from an 'old' dog plodding and shufflying around to a dog that now trots and loves his walks again. The staff are knowledgeable and realistic and balance the dogs health with the financial impact. I HIGHLY recommend North Paws!

I have a wonderful 13 year old springer and she has been showing signs of arthritis and joint issues. Like many owners her health and wellbeing is my top priority. My vet referred us to North Paws and I am so glad I found them. From the first meeting and assessment I had great confidence they were a good fit for my dog and myself. Great knowledge, professionalism, capability and care. I am realistic about the challenges ahead but through North Paws approach I have a great deal of confidence that she is in the best of hands. We are early into the treatment plan, but the signs are very encouraging. I expect that North Paws will be a regular and important part of our future. In addition to the direct treatment I have made many changes to our home and routine on their advice. All of this focused on improving and maintaining my dog’s wellness and quality of life. My dog took a real liking to Natalie, one of the experienced team and I am very pleased she is able to take the lead in her treatment. I highly recommend North Paws both for your pets and their owners!

Absolutely fantastic, our dog has had prehab before a TPLO and rehab after and couldn’t be happier, everyone has been superb for Rodger every step of the way 😁👍

I really cannot recommend North Paws enough. I met Natalie and her team a year ago when looking for laser treatment for my Bernese Mountain Dog, Poppy, following cruciate surgery. Poppy had hurt herself so went along for treatment. As soon as Natalie saw Poppy, she recommended we went back to our vets as she thought there was something else going on. Fast forward a month and we had the diagnosis that her Achilles tendon was damaged and needed surgical repair. The past year has been hard for Poppy following the surgery, as her leg got infected and the repair failed, resulting in the implant being removed and her being fitted with an orthotic brace. Throughout all this, Natalie has been there for us all and I truly believe we’d have lost Poppy if it wasn’t for her. The laser treatment is outstanding, the advice and emotional support is second to none. Poppy is finally doing well is now able to do two swim sessions a week, alongside her laser treatments, and it’s all down to North Paws……thank you from the bottom of our hearts

I have been taking my 11 and 12 year old pups for the last 5 months. Main issue was to improve older dogs mobility as he had been struggling, despite monthly jabs at vets. He started on underwater treadmill but when he realised his sister was getting to swim and he preferred that we changed. In Dec we started laser therapy as well and all I can say is wow! From a dog who plodded and was not enjoying walks the way he used to we now have a mischievous nearly 13 year old and a dog who is happy with life. We’ve dropped to fortnightly swims and laser just as maintenance but they both love it x
