Moorview Referrals is a multidisciplinary veterinary referral centre for dogs and cats, with hospitalisation facilities and emergency & critical care cover described on its website. It also operates as a veterinary nurse training facility.
Based on the website and recent reviews, it appears set up for complex referrals and urgent presentations, with owners repeatedly describing: overnight monitoring after surgery, emergency same-night assessments, and regular updates by phone. Several reviews mention staff explaining procedures and aftercare in detail (for example, facial wound surgery with stitching and a follow-up call a couple of hours later), and being able to phone overnight for an update on a hospitalised pet.
Recent feedback is mixed on the referral/emergency side in specific cases: one owner reports being advised to attend after an ibuprofen ingestion and then charged around £200 despite being told no treatment was needed, while another describes a distressing interaction during an end-of-life emergency visit.

Really disappointing experience with the referral side of Moorview. Our dog managed to consume an Iboprofen tablet accidentally. After phoning our vets, Moorview out of ours service. Telling the vet on phone the tablet mg consumed and his body weight. Being advised to come in to referrals only for them to say no treatment was needed but £200 charged for no reason. We’re really disappointed as we have found Moorview very good. Will be following this up with a formal complaint as we feel we were encouraged into the practice just for the consultation fee. This is such a shame as we have found Moorview great so far with our puppy.

My cat Yami, went in on Monday 8th December after not eating for 6 days and the vet didn't know what was wrong. He sadly passed away on the 12th December. I cannot thank everyone there enough for looking after my beautiful boy and making sure he was comfortable. We visited him several days and they let us spend quite a bit of time with him. The communication throughout was excellent, whether it was good or bad news. They were so compassionate and sympathetic, even at the end. These guys are special humans to do this every day. They did everything they could and I appreciate all they did. My beautiful boy is at peace now 😔

Very professional and friendly service. Our cat was seen as an emergency the same night and the staff made the whole process less scary and less intense. They showed a great deal of care both towards our cat and us. 5/5 stars

I have put in a formal complaint but also want to leave a review to warn others of why to expect when visiting this practice. We went here in the early hours of this morning because our cat who had been unwell since Monday was clearly at the end of his life and we didn’t want him to suffer anymore and the vet we saw, Dr Athanasia Chambers, was absolutely appalling in her treatment towards us and to our cat, she essentially kept telling us how if we had have given him medication sooner he would be fine (medication our vet could not prescribe until confirming test results were back), and repeatedly brought it up saying that FIP (which is what he was suspected to have) is not the death sentence it used to be, even though for our cat it clearly was, she man handled him when he was suffering and kept slamming doors and pointing out that had he have started meds a few days ago he might be fine when in this situation what are we meant to do with that information? There was absolutely no care at all, it felt like we were being treated as an inconvenience and also being treated as though our negligence in not getting medication is what caused his downfall, if I could’ve gone back in time and gotten him the meds immediately I would’ve but that’s not possible and she knows that, she made a devastating situation even worse by also making us feel guilty for potentially being able to save his life and just failing to do so, this is supposed to be my emergency vets but never again will I be going back here after this horrid experience.

Thank you to Vio and the Moorview team for looking after Pav, our Bernese Mountain Dog, last week. You're amazing and Pav is a whole lot better, thanks to you and your care.

Have received a great service from Moorview Referrals while having investigations for our cat, Bo. She's still receiving treatment 6 months later while we experiment with medication dosage and monitor progress. We have really good discussions with the vet - we feel listened to and are part of any decisions. We've had lots of good advice on what else we can do to compliment the medication through diet and more. The rest of the staff are all great too, always helpful when I'm ordering our collecting her prescriptions. Prescriptions are ready quickly, often same day or 72 hours max if something isn't in stock. Overall, we've had nothing but a positive experience and feel like Bo is in good hands.

Unfortunately our beautiful Ahsoka was attacked by a dog and had a bad wound on her face . As this happened on a Sunday we were directed to Moorview by our regular Vet . As you can imagine I was a blubbering wreck when I rang them , the reception team were amazing and patient with me even when I could barely talk .Explaining how the emergency appointments worked and booking us in.Once we arrived again they were brilliant paying attention to Ahsoka and calming my nerves .We were straight through to see the vet and unfortunately she has to have surgery on her face to stitch the wounds . The vet was amazing and explained the process to us .It broke my heart to have to leave her but were advised that we would get a call on a couple of hours which we did so we could go and pick her up and the vet explain what he had done and pre warned me she looked worse that she . When we went to pick her up the nurse explained the aftercare before bringing her through again in a caring and supportive manner .I can’t fault the staff or the process this isn’t my normal vet , they don’t know me or my dogs but it didn’t feel like that . As you can see by the pics she has healed beautifully Not all super hero’s wear capes Thank you Moorview

We had to visit Moorview on Tuesday night with our cat Molly as she needed monitoring overnight after sadly having emergency bladder stone removal surgery. From the second we came in at reception we felt welcomed and comfortable. The lady on the desk was very friendly and helpful. The waiting area is lovely. The vet that we spoke to was also absolutely lovely, she answered all of our questions and assured us that we could call any time during the night for an update on Molly. We did call later that night and the person on the phone was very lovely, they gave us a detailed update and reassured us. When we went to pick Molly up the next day we were once again welcomed by a lovely lady on the desk. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and when we went upstairs to collect Molly I got very overwhelmed and had to leave due to all of the stress of the last few days. My partner told me that the nurse said that if we ever have to come back they will arrange the appointments to be downstairs to make things easier for me which is so so kind and lovely. Thank you so much to everyone at Moorview for looking after Molly after her surgery. She is recovering well and almost back to her usual, cute but sassy self
